Facebook Pixel Part 1

“Corrected Transcript:
Now that we have Google Tag Manager installed under Site Kit, we have our usual dashboard, but we also have a new item that’s checked here. It’s showing us connected, which is the Tag Manager. And so when you press this, you’ll get a confirmation that you’re connected to the right one. That’s great, right? And so we can edit that. But let’s do, pardon me, see full details in Tag Manager. So that’s going to open up Tag Manager for us. Now you’ll see here I have a number of different properties, containers. The thing we want to focus on is the one we just created, which was the owner’s job. And so, let’s see, what do the ellipses say? Container settings and user management. Okay, whatever. We just want to go into it.

Okay. Now what does Google Tag Manager actually do? Well, believe it or not, it’s a tool owned by Google that manages tags. I know that wasn’t very helpful. That’s fine. Actually, I guess what I should do is show you one that is configured minimally, and that is Fit Living. And so if we go over and look at tags, we can see that there’s an FB Pixel. Now that’s not, that’s my name for it. We’re going to do that here for the owner’s job. And we can look at it and see, well, what is it? Well, it’s a bunch of code, and you’re saying, “Oh my God, Leslie, I’m not authorized to do that kind of stuff. I have no idea what that is.” You don’t need to. In fact, most programmers, honestly, if you press them on what exactly is going on there, you will get answers which are not 100% correct. At least, fact as they understand them, but wrong. So don’t worry about that. All you have to do is copy and paste here. Just follow the pattern.

So let’s go back to the owner’s job and we’ll see when we look in tags here, there are none. Oh, okay. Well, that tells us we probably want to add at least one. And that is the Facebook Pixel. So we’re going to do this in two steps. Now I’ve shown you Google Tag Manager. Now we’re going to jump over into Facebook and get the pixel. And then with the pixel on the clipboard, we’re going to paste it in here into Tag Manager. So here comes step two over in Facebook. Okay.”
