Setting up the Facebook Ads Credential

  setup-2

“Corrected Transcript:
Okay, let’s talk about the Facebook Ads channel. This channel is very much like the organic channel that’s shown next to it. However, it requires more setup and is authorized in the same way, but it seeks more permissions from Facebook on your behalf. There’s some setup associated with it that goes beyond what is required for organic.

When the Red Bang shows that it’s not authorized and needs to be, you click the “Reauthorize” button. I’m already logged in to Facebook, so all it does is flash and come back again. If you weren’t logged in, it would show you a login screen and then do exactly what I just showed.

For setup, like with organic, you’re going to select a page, but in the case of an ads channel, it’s also going to require an ad account. Plus, there’s an additional bonus. When we hit “Setup” here, just like in the organic case, we’re going to get a list of pages to select from. Since I didn’t have anything selected previously, I’ll choose Result Flow. There it is. Or the RF testing page—I’ll select that one.

Now, for the ad accounts, some of these are not mine; they’re shared from customers, but here’s Result Flow, that’s my ad account. If I just hit “Okay” here, then what happens is that it’s authorized and the changes will reflect that. We’ll get to the venues later about how to set those up.

There is another functionality here. If we look further down the dialog, we’ll see that we have a funnel dropdown and a campaign name prefix. These are optional. You would typically only do those once, probably for the setup of a persona. What this does is run a script to automatically set up a Facebook marketing funnel, and you’re provided a way to give it a campaign prefix to make it unique if you have more than one funnel. We will cover the nomenclature about this in a separate video and what happens with a campaign name prefix. I’ll show you setting up one of those and what it looks like in Facebook. Just bear in mind that this is a separate chunk of information or knowledge.

The way that you actually credential both the organic and the ads channel is the same. You can do this later. So, as I just did here, you could select this and then come back later to set up and create a funnel. You can actually do that more than once. You could have multiple funnels within the same ad account for the same page. We’ll cover the funnels and the meaning of the very brief nomenclature in another video.”
