Plugins Inventory

  Instablog

“Here’s a quick overview of the different plugins that we have installed in the Insta Blog and their purposes. So let’s go into plugins, installed plugins. I’m going to rapidly go through this list just so that you know what they’re for, and so you know which ones you should not disable or remove.

First, right off the top is the AdRotate Banner Manager. This one is not essential if you’re not going to run ads, but I presume that you will. We will be replacing this with a different one in the future, but for now, that’s the one we have.

Akismet is another plugin we may activate with a paid plan for you, or you can do that yourself. There’s no real necessity for it, but it does help in managing comment spam. If you get lots of comments on your blog, which would be great, then you might want to turn this on with a paid plan, which can be done very inexpensively.

Anti-Captcha is also a spam-fighting technique, specifically against robots. Unfortunately, it’s no longer updated, but it still works, and I have not found a suitable replacement. So we’re keeping Anti-Captcha for now.

Auto Upload Images is very important if you’re using COD. One of the things with the COD service is that you have a featured image added to your content. However, that image needs to be localized to your own blog because it’s in a temporary holding area in the ResultFlow framework when it’s created by the AI. Auto Upload Images takes any external image in a blog post and localizes it in your media library, then rewrites the link.

Autoptimize is part of our standard infrastructure for optimizing the speed of your website, so please do not deactivate or delete that.

Converter for Media creates different sizes for media and converts them to more efficient formats for network traffic, like WebP and AVIF formats. We’ve paid for this, so it’s included for you as part of using the Insta Blog.

Social Icons, I’m not sure we’re using that in the new theme. We were using it in the Genesis theme, but I’m not sure it’s being used in TagDiv. We’ll have to update that.

Nginx Helper is very important. We are hosted on Nginx instead of Apache because it provides both security and performance features that Apache does not. Do not turn that off.

OpenGraph and Twitter Card Tags plugin is very simple, lightweight, and focused, and it does just what we need for social sharing.

Quick Featured Images Pro works with our ResultFlow automated posting through XML-RPC. It sets the featured image for posts automatically based on our settings.

Simple Social Icons, like the Menu Social Icons, I don’t think we’re using, but I’ll have to get back to you on that.

Site Kit by Google is the best choice for connecting to Google Analytics and Google Search Console, and for using Tag Manager to install your Facebook and other pixels. I’ll be doing videos on how to use Site Kit.

TagDiv is our preferred theme. It’s a premium theme, and it’s the best we’ve found for content-rich websites.

WP Edit adds some new editing features to the WordPress editor. It’s optional but can be useful.

XML Sitemap Generator is not essential, but it’s there, so why not use it? We’re updating our infrastructure to make it work with Nginx.

Yet Another Related Posts Plugin is not necessary, but very useful for increasing engagement and interlinking of pages on your website.

That’s it. We prefer a minimalist style with plugins to avoid slowing down your website, potential vulnerabilities, and the hassle of keeping track of updates. We try to find single-point solutions that do one thing well and stick with those. And that’s all we have to say about that.”
